Founded in San Francisco
Cognitima was born out of a Stanford research lab focused on AI-assisted learning. Co-founders Dr. Ananya Patel and James Whitfield set out to make adaptive learning accessible to everyone.
Launched Flashcards
Our flagship product launched during the pandemic, helping millions of students transition to remote learning with spaced repetition flashcards.
Series A Funding
Raised $28M led by Sequoia Capital to expand our product suite and grow the team from 15 to 80 employees.
Quiz Maker & Classroom
Launched two new products — AI-powered Quiz Maker and Classroom management platform — reaching 5 million active users.
Global Expansion
Expanded to 180+ countries, added support for 40 languages, and partnered with 200+ school districts across North America.
12 Million Learners
